Passover the Brink is an original book of poetry. Each poem has a title and portrays versatility. A few of the poems are dated. Those poems were written on the same day, under the same circumstances, as the writer experienced a 'moment of self-reflection'. The signature poem of this book is entitled Beyond the Brink. Beyond the Brink embodies the theme of the book which is a positive affirmation.
How and Why a Poem Works
The poem entitled Mama Fran's Song: An African Heritage Affirmation Poem for Children is the only poem that was written to be spoken using a melody of a familiar tune or childhood song. The poem entitled Curtis is one of a few poems written in this book that has a subtopic (epic) because of its storytelling flair.
